Odense Filmværksted – Rediscovering an Old Labor of Love

While organizing my archives, I recently rediscovered an exciting film noir identity project we worked on for Odense Filmværksted many years ago. One of the most challenging aspects was creating the opening titles, especially dealing with the wire removal in the smoke. At the time, we didn’t have access to the advanced tools and techniques available today, so much of the work involved meticulous manual effort and in-painting.
Ironically, what stands out most now isn’t the small movie title but the captivating tableaus and, of course, the logo. As is often the case, the logo is the last element standing and the only part of the identity that remains in use today—which I feel is a shame. The visuals truly reflect a deep love for film and its history, shining through every detail.
